Genetic discovery uncovers answers to one patient’s lifelong health questions

Battling a severe heart condition and weakened muscles had become a way of life for 42-year-old Brian McDade of Clinton. It wasn’t until he met Dr. Pawel Pomianowski, medical director of the newly-established Division of Genetics and Genomics, that he would learn his symptoms were part of a rare chromosomal disorder that affects only 200 people worldwide.

School of Nursing degree candidates Raven Carter and Kevin Haynes share a love of health care and a love of country.
